This directorial debut by
Mexican Director Sebastián
Silva, is a charmingly funny,
ultimately touching story of a
family united by love for their
grandmother.
In Mexico, the 70-year-old
grandmother of the Todoro
family, La Nonna (Ana Ofelia
Murguía) forgets everything -
except her overwhelming desire
for a family visit to the Italian
birthplace of her late husband.
Worried about her health, her
offspring initially decline her
request but finally acquiesce
to the old lady's wishes. And
so the Todoros set off for Italy
with a video camera to record
the adventure - and save the
memories.
The journey to make La
Nonna happy will see the
family encounter laughter and
a humorous adventure that
takes them through a series of
surprises, mix-ups, and even
a film within the film. This is a
winsomely charming comedy of
familial fidelity - and fibs.
