MODESTY
PUDOR

The debut film from the Brothers Ulloa (actor Tristán and director David), Modesty is a rich and emotionally satisfying drama about a family quietly coming apart at the seams.
Stuck in the throes of a midlife crisis, wife and mother Julia (the superb Elvira Mínguez) suddenly finds her woes compounded when her own mother dies and her marriage to Alfredo (Nacho Novo) begins to fall apart. It seems their troubles are having a detrimental effect on the rest of the family as well, their youngest child Sergio (Marcos Ruiz) sees ghosts, their teenage daughter Marisa (Natalia Rodríguez) struggles with the doubts of her age, and Julia's father (Celso Bugallo) sits at home, mourning the loss of his wife. They all live together, unable to tell each other about the desires, fears, obsessions and secrets marking their respective lives. And the atmosphere in the house grows increasingly dense with each passing day.
Based on the novel by Peruvian author Santiago Roncaglielo, Modesty features superb performances acrossthe- board, and a beautifully subtle script that progressively builds the emotional tension to a cathartic final scene.
