This auspicious, multi-awardwinning debut from Enrique Begne is a poignant tale of lonely people in search of affection in today's Mexico City.
Thirteen-year-old Paco (Giovanni Florido) comes from a broken home. As a distraction from his troubles, he romanticizes about a fiery supermarket cashier Silvina (Maya Zapata). And in an unexpected turn of events, forges a deep friendship with her. Meanwhile, Joaquin (Jorge Zarate), a solitary and embittered taxi driver, is forced to care for a male passenger who has passed out. When he meets the daughter (Ximena Sarinana) the man abandoned long ago, he decides to stay with her and help her find the man's friends.
Set in a suffocating metropolis and supported by a haunting and urbane score, this meditation on the plight of the modern man is both inventive and immediate. Begne establishes himself as a bright new talent, weaving together these two characters' disparate stories with a similar theme—finding a glimmer of hope in friends and strangers alike.
