In a single day, Luis (Antonio Dechent ) is abandoned by the three women in his life: his stressed-out wife retires to a Buddhist centre, his teenage daughter runs away in search of her boyfriend, and his mother (Lola Herrera, one of the great divas of the Spanish stage), who was once a famous flamenco singer, jumps into a squatters van on its way to a beach gig. Desperate, Luis hires the services of a very special detective, Manolete (Morón), but in order to win his women back, he will first have to understand them.
This film is a rousing good time, with some pointed observations about family, love and sex in today's Spain. Featuring many popular Spanish songs (with a flamenco makeover), this is the debut feature film from Álvaro Begines. He describes the curiously titled film (the literal translation is "Why Do They Rub Their Little Feet Together?" - all will be revealed) as a tragi-comic musical to make you laugh while crying, or cry laughing.
