ABOUT CRYING
LO BUENO DE LLORAR
Winner Critics Award and Special Mention
Valdivia International Film Festival. Chile.
After directing the sizzling,
internationally acclaimed
In Bed (the winner of more
than 35 awards), 28-yearold
Chilean director Matias
Bize travelled to the streets
of Barcelona to make this
beautiful film.
The film follows a couple
Vera (Vicenta Ndongo) and
Alejandro (Alex Brendemuhl)
through a long night across
the city, from its highest
point to the sea. From the
opening, it's apparent their
relationship is in trouble and
we'll accompany them as
it disintegrates - through
secrets and revelations, tears
and jokes, reflections and
discussions, and silence. Vera
and Alejandro allow us to
effectively explore the big lies
that may exist within a couple,
but great truths about human
beings as well. The characters
walk all night down a road
that, although they don't know
it, has no return.
The actors give amazingly
candid performances, aided
by Bize's 'open' script, and the
luminous city of Barcelona as
the third lead.
