Dear festival lovers,

It is a true honour and pleasure to once again present this festival of exceptional new films that communicate a world of stories in the language of Spain, and in the powerful language of cinema!

Spanish is the third most widely spoken language on earth and it is the predominant language for more than 21 countries worldwide. The 2011 festival line-up features films from many of these countries including Argentina, Chile, Colmbia, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Bolivia, Venezuela and of course, Spain. Take a journey on screen as we travel farther still, from Cuba to New York and beyond! United by language, these films are from countries with unique cultural identities; come and discover these wonderful stories from fascinating and diverse parts of the world.

We are proud to announce that the Spanish film industry remains triumphant despite the difficult economic climate that the world, and Spain in particular, is experiencing. Now in its fourteenth year, the festival continues to grow and in 2011 returns to Perth and expands to New Zealand! It is exhilarating to see such demand for Spanish and Latin American culture, cinema and language and we are thrilled to be able to continue bringing these contemporary films to you.
