A high-voltage psychological thriller from the producers of The Orphanage, Julia’s Eyes and The Body (SFF13). Victor, a deaf and mute boy is found wandering down a country road. His mother, Patricia (Blanca Portillo, As Luck Would Have It SFF12), is a well-known and prestigious attorney. At the police station, she translates for Victor who explains that he was kidnapped by a strange man at his school. The police identify a possible suspect called Charlie (Andrés Herrera), a man with money troubles and a pregnant wife. Although Victor identifies his presumed kidnapper in a line-up, the lack of conclusive evidence sees Charlie set free. Patricia, seeing the police’s inability to arrest Charlie, does something she’s never done before and takes the law into her own hands, but her actions have unforeseen consequences and events quickly spiral out of control.
Director Mar Targarona keeps the plot twisting and turning as she pushes the extremes to which a mother will go to protect her child.
The great find of the film, apart from the plot twist… is the performance by the young Marc Domenech.
