History of the Occult

Historia de lo Oculto

Shot in black and white and set in the 1980s, History of the Occult is a thought-provoking and out of the ordinary supernatural horror film with political undertones.

It is the final broadcast of ‘60 Minutes to Midnight’ the most famous journalism show on television in Argentina. Tonight, their special guest in the studio is Adrian Marcato (Germán Baudino), a self-professed warlock who claims to be in cahoots with the country’s political elite.

Ever since a notebook was found at the scene of a killing in Buenos Aires, the journalists have been on the trail of occultists who seem to be controlling Argentina from behind the scenes. Adrian is willing to admit everything on live TV for a price, so in a race against time, the journalists will fight to expose the truth of the government conspiracy.

With a satanic ritual murder, a final live broadcast and an occult conspiracy, this directorial debut from Cristian Ponce delivers surreal logic and spine-tingling chills.
